This is a Love Story

My name is Forest Rain and I am an American born Israeli.

I was born in the land of the free, the home of the brave. I was raised to believe in truth, justice and the American way. Yes, I believe in the exceptional experiment that is America. Not because of the ideas taught me as a child but because of the reality I see as an adult – Israel.

It is in the land of my heritage that I see the living, breathing, battling to survive values of the land of my birth. Here the theory is reality.

And this is not strange because Israel is where it all began. Ours is the greatest story that ever existed. The elements that make up the fantasy and legends of other nations, are our reality.

People flock to see Hollywood films to be inspired, to be sucked in to epic stories of love, overcoming unbeatable odds, battles for the future of a nation, or the world. In Israel stories of heroism, extraordinary feats, honor, compassion, love, choices and an epic battle between right and wrong, good and evil, being soulful and soulless are the stories of our lives.

I know of nothing more dramatic, inspiring and real than the story of Israel. I believe the stories of Israel are relevant and can inspire anyone, anywhere. You don’t have to be Jewish, or religious, or care at all about Israel in and of herself, in order to benefit from Israel’s stories.

Israel is living proof that anything is possible. Unbeatable odds can be beaten. That is a valuable message for all people to have solidly in front of them.

The stories of Israel tend to be left untold. Or twisted and warped so that a different reality is created. This is a terrible disservice to Israel but also to the people of the world who can benefit from Israel’s lessons:

When surrounded by horror there is always hope.

Good does triumph. Spirit can conquer the greatest odds.

Miracles are real.

All lives matter.

This is a love story. I will tell what I can, what I see, what I learn – in hopes that you too will be inspired.

  1. I loved reading your blog post. I arrived at your site after a conversation (rather, trading comments) with a guy called Skull(username and nickname. Rather than give him my email in a public forum, he asked me to visit your site (he’s right, it’s awesome!) and ask you to please forward my email address to him. I’d appreciate it very much. I’m on Disqus under my own name, and of course you’ll have that and my email once I submit this comment. I also think I’ll be visiting your blog again (and I’m not just saying that because I’ve asked for a favor from a stranger!) I love learning about modern Israel, having studied the ancient Hebrews in my Old Testament studies (I am a student of theology by choice and a preacher’s kid -pk- by birth) and Jewish life & customs in general as part of my interest in the WWII era. (I’m also an Army Brat, many of my Dad’s preaching years were spent as a Chaplain in the US Army. Thanks for your help, and for posting such interesting articles! Peace be with you (Shalom)!

  2. I’ve just discovered your blog via Elder of Ziyon’s introduction. I’ve been missing so much! You write so beautifully and I could go back and “like” every post you’ve written. You express in such eloquent words what I feel but can’t quite manage to put into words.

    1. Thank yo very much for your kind words! If you do go back you will be able to find articles on almost any topic, so that could be interesting (not for the likes LOL). Sharing of course helps. So many people just dont any idea of what the truth is…
