He’s such a nice boy…

A new Chief of Staff was chosen to lead the IDF, the Israeli Defense Forces.

Gadi Eizenkot, promoted to one of the most important positions in Israel, responsible the safety of all Israelis and the protection of the country from threats within and without, could not talk to the media. Some formalities needed to be concluded before he would be free to talk. On the other hand, the media needs quotes, needs material.

So they called his mother.

“So what do you have to say about your son’s new job?”

“He’s such a nice boy,” said the mother of the new Chief of Staff. “I’m so proud of him.”

Only in Israel would it seem reasonable to call up the new Chief of Staff’s mom.

This country is so small, we really are one family. Or at least we should be. No external threat can ever bring us down – only Israel forgetting (or being denied) her purpose, her roots, and family. When Israel functions as one nothing can break us.
